It is made of cotton thread coloured red or yellow or both, it is tied on the wrist of right hand of male and on the left wrist of women. It has great importance. It is also known as “RAKSHA SUTRA”( रक्षा सूत्र). It is tied on the wrist, it controls the excretory system of human beings. Many more systems are also affected by this KALAWA or MAULI.
Kalawa is also used to tie the TIHAL-BAGAS in Mathur. Kalawa is also used approximately in each and every function of the marriage.
